2021 Internship

The Foundation is proud to announce our new intern at KTVK 3TV – KPHO CBS 5, Phoenix!

Michayla Lopez

Michayla Lopez is the Foundation’s 2021 spring intern at KTVK-KPHO. She could not be happier to have been accepted into the program. Michayla is originally from New Mexico but moved to Arizona for better opportunities such as this one. Her passion for journalism led her to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism where she is studying Broadcast Journalism as well as Film Production. Michayla hopes to combine her love of filmmaking and journalistic skills to one day create documentary films. Her favorite part about the internship is “coming in and not knowing what could happen or where I might be going that day.” She enjoys learning new skills and expanding her knowledge of cameras and editing. She says “the best part about telling a story is watching it all come together.” Michayla described the internship as an opportunity she is so grateful to have and she is so excited to be part of the newsroom. When she is not editing a package or shooting, Michayla likes to hike and be outdoors. Her most recent adventure was hiking Flat Iron Ridge.
